TASIKMALAYA – Tasikmalaya City officially entered its 25th year with a bold ambition to become the economic center of the East Priangan region today. This vision was emphasized during the peak of the 25th Anniversary ceremony held at the Bale Kota Tasikmalaya field on Saturday (17/10/2026) morning.
The theme “Langkah Santun, Jiwa Tangguh” reflects the city’s readiness to face future challenges with politeness, resilience, and strong character. This spirit is also represented by the mascots Cep Tata and Neng Titi, inspired by the local gurame fish and the Sundanese philosophy “Tata Titi Duduga Prayoga”.
Mayor Viman Alfarizi Ramadhan stated that a quarter-century is not just a milestone, but a momentum to evaluate past works and accelerate public welfare. He also invited all elements, including central government officials present, to collaborate in boosting the regional economy significantly.
This ambition is strongly backed by solid macroeconomic indicators, such as a significant poverty reduction from 10.84 percent in 2025 to 9.34 percent in 2026. The Human Development Index (IPM) also rose to 76.59, placing Tasikmalaya ninth out of 27 regencies and cities in West Java.
Economic growth reached 5.39 percent in 2025, accompanied by a decrease in the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) to 6.43 percent. Furthermore, the city successfully maintained its 10th consecutive Unqualified Opinion (WTP) from BPK RI and retained the 2026 TPID Award for inflation control.
To celebrate a quarter-century, the government has prepared 25 series of activities ranging from Free Health Checks, Creative Economy Week, to the Tasikmalaya Great Sale with a 25 percent discount. These events are designed to directly benefit the community and involve various districts, ensuring a real and measurable economic impact for everyone.
A tangible push for the green economy comes from the allocation of 250 second-phase electric tricycles from President Prabowo Subianto. The city government is also proposing the provision of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) to PLN to support their sustainable operation in the city center.
Mayor Viman stressed that optimizing local potential requires strong synergy between the government, the business world, and the entire community to open new opportunities. “Kita memiliki potensi dan sumber daya yang bisa mendorong Kota Tasikmalaya menjadi pusat ekonomi di Priangan Timur,” he concluded.
